How to get a good night’s sleep with leading beds

There are a number of things to get you on your way to the land of nod and they do all boil down to common sense but unfortunately the emergence of portable technology means we just can’t seem to leave work at work anymore and rooms in houses have merged, with televisions in bedrooms and sofa beds in living rooms it has become a crazy mixed up world.

The best way to get a good night’s sleep is to remember two things, one is that your bedroom is a bedroom and it’s for sleeping in and the other is that your body needs to be cool (around 36.5 degrees Celsius) to relax and switch off.

Here are some basic tips for improving your sleeping habits and experiences:

If you have a television in your bedroom, remove it; televisions are bright, often loud and not only stimulate the brain but also give out negative ions and barely audible sounds that can adversely affect sleeping patterns and stimulate brain activity, even on standby, without you realising.

The same logic applies to laptops, PCs and handheld devices such as Blackberries but the main problem with these is that they’re addictive and can cause huge levels of stress which build up, causing anxiety, raised body temperature, restlessness and insomnia. Bringing these sorts of devices into the bedroom means that you’re bringing communication and work into an environment that should be distraction and stress free and so they’re bound to interrupt normal sleeping patterns.

It’s unrealistic to advise people to leave mobile phones in another room or to switch them off so instead, put them onto silent or switch off the backlight so you’re less likely to be disturbed by calls and texts. Try to limit the number of calls and texts you make and write from the bedroom, it’s not a healthy habit to get into.

Some people find gentle and relaxing music helpful and soothing but the same principle applies to that as to television, it is a stimulant and may actually have the opposite to desired effect. If you do like listening to music, try and pick tunes that don’t involve any words or singing and keep the volume levels low.

Even in the winter, bedroom windows should be left slight ajar or the vents should be opened to allow fresh air to circulate around the room; keeping your bedroom door open also allows for a constant supply of fresh air which will allow you to sleep more comfortably and you will wake feeling refreshed rather than groggy.

Follow this advice and do some serious research into double beds and quality but still cheap mattresses before you commit and you’re sure to get a great quality night’s sleep every night.

Looking For a Double Air Bed Mattress? Here’s What I Think of Mine

There’s no doubt about it, lots of us just don’t have room for an extra guest bedroom in our house. When friends and family come to stay with us, we sometimes put them in the kids room, our beds, or sleeping bags on the floor.

There’s a better solution, though! A double air bed!

Married couples often sleep better together than in a child’s twin bed, because a double bed is what they’re used to. Surprisingly, air mattresses are often more comfortable than futons or the dreaded sofa bed with the uncomfortable bar you feel on your back every time you roll over during the night.

A double air bed fits standard double size sheets and you can get them to be low to the floor, or elevated, as if they were on a box spring. (These are more the size and height of a typical double bed.)

One of the things I really like about the air mattress I have is that it is really easy to inflate. You just plug it in and press a button and in less than 2 minutes, the whole thing is inflated and ready to go. I can put it in the middle of the living room floor for guests to use at night, and then deflate it (again, with the push of a button) and store it during the day, so we have use of all the space in our house! I’ve used it for my sister, my mother in law, and my fiancee. No one had any complaints. Also, my 2-year old son loves romping on it, but that probably doesn’t count.

We have been very happy with our double air bed. If you’d like to find out more about the kind I have, which is an aerobed air mattress, just click here.

Benefits to Using an Air Bed for Guests

There are a lot of benefits to using an air bed for guests. They’re easy to set up, they don’t take up space on a daily basis, and they’re affordable–to name just a few advantages. It also feels great having something readily available to offer to people who show up unexpected and knowing you’re a good hostess and friend.

One of the advantages most people don’t consider is that your guests can adjust the mattress to the firmness they desire. You never know when buying a spare mattress if you should buy a firm one, a soft one, etc–but with an air bed your guests can easily adjust the settings to however they prefer to sleep.

Another benefit is that instead of having say, a spare mattress, or a futon, which will take up space in your home on a constant basis, the air bed for guests can be easily stored when no one is staying over. This gives you more space in your home on a daily basis.

It’s easy to set up and move. Sofa beds can be difficult to set up correctly and get ready for guests. You may also need to move around your furniture to make room. With an air bed you can find a bit of space anywhere, hook up the pump, throw a few blankets and pillows down, and you have a place for your company to sleep. This is both simple and low stress for you and your friends.

Air beds are affordable, no matter what your price range may be. You can buy a cheaper one that still works well, or get a few extra features and spend more money. The price range gives a lot more give than what you’ll end up spending on a futon or spare bed.

If you’ve slept on an inflatable mattress a few years back you’ll be pleased to know that they’ve advanced a lot in recent years. They’re much nicer these days, the pumps blow them up and deflate them faster, they tend to make it through the night staying as firm as when the night began, and they’re just a lot more comfortable overall.

If you’re looking for a sleeping arrangement for company consider the many the benefits to using an air bed for guests.

A guide to buying your bed

When we tend to spend almost 1/3rd of our life in beds, it’s pretty important to choose the best bed that you suits your comfort and taste.

Beds are an indispensable part of your home as they may last a long time and you may not change them in a life-time. With so many different types’ beds around us to choose from, your research should be based on comfort, budget and the space available.

Judging by the comfort of beds, you might consider the Inner Spring Coil Mattress bed, Memory Foam beds, Air Beds and Waterbeds.

Coil mattress beds have been around for a long time. However, make sure that coil count in such beds is enough to support your back.

Memory Foam beds have become quite popular owing to their temperature sensitivity property and also their property to conform to your body shape.

Air beds are quite comfortable and are free from dust mites. You can inflate them to your comfort level.

Waterbeds use water in place of foam, air or coils. They create a gentle movement and warming sensation. They also are very expensive to maintain.

In terms of space, you can choose from The cabin bed, the sofa bed and the bunk bed. Cabin beds are an ideal solution to bedrooms that are short on space. These very often have storage compartments such as built-in drawers underneath the unit and curtains to cover an area where a child can play or store toys. They also have guardrails around the perimeter of the bed.

Sofa beds are one of the most useful beds for living rooms and spare rooms as it offers great comfort and practicality. They are primary used for seating purposes during the day and can then be converted to a bed if guests are to stay.

Bunk beds are another such space saver beds. Mostly used in dormitories and kid’s rooms, these beds have one bed on top of another and save space as well as can prove as great storage units.

Adjustable beds are the best option if you are looking for a bed that provides you the perfect sleeping posture. They can be adjusted as per your posture and work out well to relieve your back related ailments. With raised sleeping posture, you can bid good bye to leg or body cramps.

Keep in mind your budget while going for a bed as some of them may cost a huge sum. Make a wise decision by researching all types pretty wisely because beds are there for a long time to stay. You would not like to end up with a over priced, over sized and uncomfortable piece of furniture in your bedroom.

Benefits of Air beds for Guests

There are times when you might have guests over and you wish you had an extra bedroom or extra bed to accommodate them and make them feel comfortable. Though some of the guests won’t mind sleeping on the sofa, only we know how difficult it is adjust ourselves on the couch.

Air beds serve the purpose of a guest bed with least hassles. This is because they have a number of advantages over conventional beds. One of the major advantages an air bed has is that they can be fined-tuned to a level of comfort that you prefer. You can do this by blowing up the air mattress to the right level of firmness for you. If you want it firm pump the bed up to near capacity. If you want it softer let some of the air out of the mattress.

Furthermore, as compared to conventional beds, Air beds can also reduce dust mites and prevent allergies as dust and small particles aren’t trapped inside the mattress.

The ease with which you can set up the air bed is one of the major advantages of it. This bed can be unfolded and inflated in no time. The storage is also quite easy. You just have to deflate it and then it can be folded and stored away in any one of your closets. Hence, unlike other beds, it does not take up much space.

You can also choose various depths of the air mattress beds as per use and level of comfort. There are those with less than 2 inches in depth and there are thicker ones which can reach up to 2 feet. Choose whatever is convenient for you and how comfortable you want your guest to be. Also as it comes with a storage bag, you can easily take it to camping trips and use an air pump to inflate it. Hence apart from being a guest bed, you can also take it for camping trips.

These beds have a lot of health benefits too. As they are filled with air, they are extremely comfortable and avoid forming pressure points while sleeping. You will also stop tossing and turning around in the bed due to the soft nature of this bed.

A good and complete sleep is essential to rejuvenate our bodies. Most of the healing and refreshing of our body takes place during sleep. Hence, choosing an air bed makes it possible to have a complete sleep and thus it indirectly helps us have a healthy lifestyle.

Convertible Sofas Can be Magical

For most of us convertible sofas convert into beds. These handy pieces of furniture are great for many people. If you do not have a spare room for guests, use the convertible sofa. If you live in a studio apartment, then a sofa bed may be perfect for you. If your kids like to have sleep overs, a sleeper sofa in the family room would be a great solution. If you need a “spare” bed for when your spouse is in the dog house, then a convertible sofa may be the answer (but it is best to never go to bed mad). But in all these cases, the sofa part is for sitting and the bed it converts into is for sleeping. But what if you asked a child what they thought convertible sofas should convert into, what would they say? Well, I talked to some kids, and this is what they said they thought convertible sofas should change into.

The first was a little boy, he was about three, almost four, years old. He was a very typical little boy. I asked him that if he had a couch that could change into anything, what would it be? He gave it a moments thought and then said, “a race car”. Why? I asked. “So I can drive fast like my Daddy,” was his quick answer. Little boys want to be like their Dad’s, and driving is something we just take for granted as an adult. But driving for a kid means so much more, it means going fast and being able to do what you want, and being like your Dad.

When I asked a group of four little girls what they thought would be cool for convertible sofas to change into, they conferred for a little while and came with the consensus that it should be something that could fly. “Oh,” I said, “like the bed on Bedknobs and Broomsticks?” I only got a bunch of blank stares with that comment. So instead I compared it to Aladdin and a magic flying carpet. That got me a bunch of smiles and nodding heads. Then they went off (all at once) about how great it would be to swoop through the air, flying over fields and lakes. I remember when I was a little kid, and dreams where I could fly were the best! Yes, a sofa bed that could fly would definitely be high on my list too.

I asked another group of older boys and girls, who were about 7, what they thought would be cool to have convertible sofas convert into, and their quick answer was a time machine. That’s cool, so my next question was, “If you could all just go to one time, when would it be?” This took a bit of discussion, especially since both boys and girls were involved, but they soon decided on Medieval times. Why? Well, boys like battle and little girl’s want to be princesses, so that time period seemed to offer everything that everybody wanted. Especially since the boys could battle dragons to save the princesses!

Convertible sofas may not be quite that magical to most of us, but remember that it could be, especially if you ever get to play make believe with a four year old. It is amazing what you can do with a blanket and sofa. It can become a magical cave, a flying carpet, a fast race car,or yes, convertible sofas even make great time machines.

The Evolution of Futon Convertible Sofa Beds

There are many styles of convertible sofa beds available on the market today. They have greatly evolved from the early click-clack beds to pull out hide-a-beds to the Japanese futon and back again to the beginning. All of these styles can still be found, greatly improved upon their early predecessors, being more comfortable and stylish than ever before. But today, lets take a look at the history and evolution of the futon and the revolutionary new styles available.

As you probably know, the traditional futon is from Japan. The original futon was not designed to be folded up into a sofa, but was designed to be folded and put away so that the room could be used for other purposes. The futon was more of a bedding set that had two main parts: the bottom mattress (shikibuton) and the thick quilted bedcover (kakebuton). The mattress is only about 2.0 inches thick and is filled with a cotton or synthetic batting. This makes them easy to fold away and store in a closet. The Japanese futon needs to be regularly aired out in the sun and are often beaten using a special bamboo tool similar to a carpet beater.

I am not sure when the futon was introduced in the US, but I remember first seeing them in the 1980’s. However, the western futon has some major differences from the original. The primary difference is that they are put on a wood or metal frame that folds in the middle, allowing them to be used as convertible sofa beds. During the day they can be folded up in the sofa position, and then they can be flattened out at night to be used as a bed. Almost all of these that I have seen have wooden arm rests.

The next major difference is the mattress. First, it is thicker. A high end futon will have a mattress that is up to six to eight inches thick. A cheap, discount store futon’s mattress is usually only about 4″ thick. Though this is still twice the thickness of the traditional Japanese futon, it is often needed because of the metal frame it rests on. Besides being thicker, the mattresses often have a removable cover for easy washing or replacing. The cheaper mattresses are made of foam and batting. The thick mattresses have multiple layers of foam and batting. Some of the higher quality futon mattresses actually have coils like a real mattress.

The latest evolution in the western futon I had never seen before until today. This type of convertible sofa beds are called a futon, but looks just like a regular sofa. The ones I saw were made by Handy Living and had a really nice microfiber upholstery with full padded arms and throw pillows. You can get them in a full sofa size or the smaller love seat, and in a whole variety of colors to suit any decor. Besides looking like a regular sofa, these convertible sofa beds not only fold flat for sleeping, but also can be partially reclined. They also claim that they easily convert from one position to another, using just a touch of a hand. This sure beats the wood or metal framed futon! We have a fairly nice one, and though laying it flat is not a problem, it is a two person job to get it upright again. One last improvement worth mentioning is that the back and seating area is 10″ thick with coils, so very comfortable – especially since there is no bar in the middle of your back as in the cheap futons!

Yes, the futon has come a long ways in different styles from the traditional Japanese style. So, if you are looking at convertible sofa beds, consider the latest innovative style to see if it would work for you.
